Voice Lessons
My Mission…
…is to bring joy to your singing journey, no matter your starting point or destination.
I hope to give you tools to discover, embrace, and strengthen your unique voice so that you can free up your self-expression, and deepen your connection with yourself and your community!
About Me
Singing has been my favorite form of self-expression and community bonding since I was 8 years old!
My background is in musical theatre, and I’ve been performing professionally around the country for over a decade, and studied voice even longer!
I am a Level Two Certified Practitioner of Andrew Byrne’s ‘Singing Athlete’ method: brain-based training for your voice, and for the last 4 years, I’ve been the Associate Voice Teacher at Kim Stern Vocal Studio.
Singing is still part of my daily life. I actively audition, practice daily, and train with world-class coaches, so I’m always learning more about the voice…
…so we’ll always have new things to explore together!
What to expect in a lesson with me…
You ARE your instrument!
And it’s one-of-a-kind! How cool! Your voice includes your (entire) body, brain, and soul. So we’ll be doing some physical bodywork, mindset work, and storytelling in addition to our technical work.
My teaching philosophy:
I know firsthand...singing can be a scary and vulnerable thing! My aim is to provide a safe and brave place to explore and challenge what your voice can do.
I'm your coach, not your judge. So, you'll never hear me say "That was bad." I'm only listening to where the sound is, and offering tools based on where I think the sounds could go next. The goal of each lesson is “better than before.”
Think of me as the tour guide for your voice…offering you tools and pointing your focus toward new areas of exploration. What you do with that information next is up to you!

All kinds! (Ages 16+) I've got students performing on Broadway, and all over the world! And I have student who do it just for the love and fun.
I love working with beginner and intermediate singers, especially with dancers looking to improve singing chops, or folks who want to work through some nerves or take up space and need a safe and warm place to explore. -
My background is in musical theatre, but I’ve studied a wide variety of musical styles from classical to pop, and pride myself on being versitle as a singer and coach! Feel free to tell me the styles of music you'd like to work on and if you'd like to choose your own pieces, or have me assign something to you.
These are YOUR lessons, so always feel free to be open with me about what you’d like to focus on and we'll come up with a plan together.

In each 60 min Lesson:
-We’ll check in on how you're feeling/ your discoveries from practice
-We'll get your body, brain, and voice warmed up,
-We'll do vocal exercises for your musicality and overall singing technique,
-We'll apply these learnings in the context of a song.
(I usually like to spend at least a few weeks on one song!)
-
I play well enough to accompany you on scales/ exercises. When it comes time to sing the piece you are coaching, we will usually work with a track which I can help you find. Some songs I can “chord” along with you. But tracks are useful so I can fully focus on YOU while you’re singing and not the piano.

This is a method I'm certified in! Keep scrolling down to the section that says "Here Singing Meets Science" and I'll tell you all about it!"
Here, Singing Meets Science!
I’ve studied Andrew Byrne’s Singing Athlete Method both as a student in lessons and in two certification programs. What does that mean? It means we use functional applied neuroscience for the voice. In other words, we treat singing like the sport that it is!
Until I started working in this way, I didn’t know aspects of my specific body and health history ALL affected my voice… like my near-sightedness, my past injuries, my various dental surgeries, my scoliosis, and my motion sickness to name a few… they affect my vocal production! Why? Because the body IS the instrument, and singing is a full-body activity!
Does this sound like you?: You keep hearing phrases like “sing into your mask,” and “relax your jaw” or “engage your breath support”…but like….you don’t know what it means or what it’s supposed to feel like. You’re not alone!
Different nerves control the sensory information and motor function of each of these areas. Maybe one of these nerves is too sensitive or not sensitive enough.
Together we’ll work with your nervous system (beyond “fight/flight” vs “rest/digest”), and we will explore ways to help you feel it so you can fix it.
The Habit of Practice
Consistency is the key to meaningful progress. In our lessons, I offer you tools that can expand your skill, but it takes repetitive application and practice for that tool to become muscle memory. So it’s super important to be putting in practice time outside of our lessons in order to make the change you are envisioning for yourself.
To have a meaningful practice, we need to get into the habit of showing up to that practice. And I firmly believe spending just a few minutes every day is more effective than spending multiple hours every-so-often.
Showing up for ourselves can be difficult for many of us, but I love helping my students create personalized strategies for building their singing practice.
I have collected and created resources to make showing up feel easier, and more fun! —>

Book Your First Lesson!
I strongly encourage purchasing a package over single lessons…
This saves you between $15-$35 per lesson, guarantees your lesson time, and allows us to set goals/ stay consistent and accountable to ensure more efficient and impactful progress.
We practice more when we know when our next scheduled lesson is!
On the package plan, we work in 3-month semesters, and we can do 12, 6, or 3 lesson packages (online or in person).
This is a great option if your schedule is very inconsistent or you need quick prep for an upcoming audition.
